SALFORD QUAYS - 30/12/03

As promised another page of photos from Salford Quays. For a map of the area click here. To see page one, click here.

Centre photo above, the Lowry Designer Outlet shopping centre. The other photos feature the spectacular Lowry Footbridge that crosses the Manchester Ship Canal. The building on the other bank with the golden windows is the office building Quay West.
Victoria Point Apartment Building on the left and again in the photo on the right, which was taken from the 95 foot high Imperial War Museum Viewing Platform. The views across Manchester are stunning even now with the dull weather. Centre photo shows The Lowry.

More photos from the viewing platform at the Imperial War Museum. The regeneration of the area continues, notice the cranes in the centre photo. In the photo on the right, it's going very dark but I had to include the 'Theatre of Dreams', (or nightmares, depending on your loyalties) across the canal, Manchester United FC's home, Old Trafford.

Our last visit for the day is to the Lowry Arts Centre and the impressive artwork of LS Lowry. The photo on the left features the painting entitled Father and Two Sons, a different sort of image to the well known 'Matchstick Men' that feature in a lot of the artists work. There was an exhibition of Christmas Cribs from Poland, as centre photo. Not seen in England before, they are portable theatres for traditional Nativity Plays from Krakow. Last photo on the right, the front of the Lowry Building as we head home.
