BOWNESS-ON-WINDERMERE, BLEA TARN & CONISTON - LAKE DISTRICT PG.2 - 22/05/04
Page two from our visit to Cumbria, for more information and photos see page 1, click here.
Images above showing Bowness-on-Windermere and Lake Windermere. The photo on the left shows one of the main shopping streets. A word of caution to potential Lake District visitors, don't bother visiting if you are on a healthy eating regime, it's all too tempting! I can highly recommend the fudge, pasties, cakes, hot chocolate (with cream on top & marshmallows of course), and strawberry ice cream.....
More activity on the water, (left photo) and centre photo shows the view from our cruise boat towards some of the boats moored at Waterhead, Ambleside. Photo on the right shows Blea Tarn. The tarn can be found to the west of Ambleside, for a map of the area showing the exact location click here. The roads to reach the tarn are not the best, narrow and steep in parts, but the views are well worth it.
Another photo on the left showing reflections in Blea Tarn, the other two pictures above show Coniston Lake and one of the cruise ships departing from the Coniston jetty after the last trip of the day around 5:30pm. |
