The famous Ring of Kerry and the
Killarney National Park in Co. Kerry, Ireland are featured in this last page of
photos from a week in Ireland. To see more photos of Ireland

The Ring of Kerry is in the south west of
Ireland just south of the Dingle Peninsula and to the west of Killarney
Town. Photos above show the northern coast of the peninsula and the ruins of
Ballycarberry Castle near Cahersiveen. The castle dates from the 15th
century although it is thought there was a residence on the site long before
this. The area around the castle is a good place for walking with the
remains of Cahergall Fort just a short distance away.
There are stunning views from the winding road
that tours the ring of Kerry on the Iveragh Peninsula before heading inland
towards the Killarney National Park. The photos to the centre and right were
taken at Ladies View, a viewpoint over the Park and the lakes of Killarney
where there is a cafe/bar and gift shop.
The route back to Killarney takes you through
the Killarney National Park and past the Killarney Lakes. Just to the west
of the town on the banks of Lough Leane is Ross Castle built in the 15th
century by one of the O'Donoghue Ross Chieftains. From the castle tour boats
depart for tours of the Killarney Lakes.
