Gritstone moors above Holmfirth can be seen in
the photo to the left above before we arrive in the town itself. The other
two photos are clues to the the towns woollen mill history, the river is the
Ribble shortly before it's confluence with the River Holme which used to
power the mills and the photo to the right shows three story weavers
cottages.
Holmfirth is probably best known as the place
where the BBC series 'Last of the Summer Wine' has been filmed for over 30
years. There are many places in the town that will be familiar to fans of
the show, the photo to the left above shows Sid's Cafe and on the right the
stairs lead to Nora Batty's house, otherwise known as the Wrinkled Stocking
Tea Room.
Christmas and all it's trimmings have arrived
in Holmfirth at the many gift shops in the Town. The photo on the right
shows the view towards the town and it's surrounding villages from the
summit of Holme Moss.
