CHATSWORTH HOUSE - 12/12/05

A few photographs from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire are featured on this latest page to be added to Boots and Paws. The house is closed from the 21st December 05 until March 06. Click here for the official website.

One of the most spectacular views of the house is looking across the Canal Pond through the Emperor fountain towards the south face. A misty looking River Derwent runs through the Estate where you can enjoy walks all year round even though the House and Gardens are closed until next March.

The house was decorated for Christmas with seasonal decorations throughout. There are often different exhibitions in the house including a small Pride and Prejudice display (right photo) as Chatsworth was used in the recent movie to play the part of Pemberley. There were photographs featuring the collections held at Chatsworth by photographer Jorge Lewinski and work by David Hockney (centre photo).

The gardens at Chatsworth seem different on every viewing through the changing seasons. Dogs on leads are welcome, (at the time of writing).

The image on the left shows the view of the house from the same position as the first photo on this page but at wide angle. The house is lit to great effect as the light fades.
