BOSLEY LOCKS - 03/01/10

These images from a frozen Macclesfield Canal in January give a reminder of what conditions were like during the coldest winter to hit the UK for 30 years.

There were many times during the winter when a lot of roads in the area were impassable for several days due to snow drifts several feet deep. There was certainly no chance of moving canal barges along the frozen canal with temperatures reaching lows of around -17˚C in the area.

These photos were all taken on a short walk at Bosley Locks just off the Congleton to Buxton road A54.
