Cheshire has a mixture of peaks
and plains and many historical places for visitors to enjoy. There are ideal
destinations for hill walking to the east of Cheshire where
Shutlingsloe,
(the Cheshire Matterhorn) and Shining Tor are the highest points in the
county and can be mixed with walks through
Wildboarclough and
Teggs Nose.
Macclesfield Forest and
Delamere Forest are ideal places for forestry/woodland walks and both
benefit from a visitors centre with facilities and information about the
locations. Those who enjoy gardens will not be disappointed after a visit to
Cheshire with highlights including
Tatton Park with its 50 acres of gardens,
Hare Hill,
Lyme Hall's Victorian gardens and
Gawsworth Hall, all offering
some of the best examples in the country.
